#1 National Public Gardens Day

Enjoy a walk in the gardens on National Public Gardens Day! Many public gardens around the nation celebrate by holding special events and celebrating our special exhibits and the relationships we make with our visitors and friends. JOIN US IN THE GARDEN.

#2 Get Rock'N Coshocton

GET ROCK'N COSHOCTON is a collaboration between the Coshocton Public Library, Clary Gardens, the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, and the Pomerene Center for the Arts, to provide meaningful education centered in the arts to our children and our community throughout the summer months. There will be something FUN and EDUCATIONAL to experience Monday through Friday at one of our venues each day... (INFO LISTED BELOW). **Thanks to Lake Park Aquatic Center, 10 visits to any of these ROCK'N venues earns ONE FREE POOL ENTRY!

CLARY GARDENS will have sessions every TUESDAY from 10am to 11am (Content subject to change):

MAY 29: Trees and Forests in the Woodlands

JUNE 5: Worms, Soil, and Littering at the Compost Pile

JUNE 12: Bees and Wasps in the Pollinator habitat(s)

JUNE 19: Butterflies in the Butterfly Enclosure

JUNE 26: Stream Studies in the Woodlands

**Must EMAIL the gardens to register your child. For programming at the gardens through Get Rock'N Coshocton, children should be ages 7-12 years old. Younger children can be registered but will be waitlisted and will be able to attend if seats are available. You will recieve an email response by the Friday before the session. We're looking forward to this FUN set of events!

--LIBRARIES ROCK! Mondays and Thursdays, May 24-July 21. Explore a world of possibilities through our Summer Reading program! Children aged 0-12 years will find age-appropriate programs, prizes, and crafts at both Coshocton Public Library and West Lafayette Branch Library this summer. Theme is both music and geology. (RSVP only for 0-3yrs.) Details at www.coshoctonpubliclibrary.org or call 740-622-0956 - NO COST!

--GARDENS ROCK! Tuesdays, May 29-June 26, 10-11am. Ecology is the study of relationships between living organisms and their physical surroundings. Each week children will discover a different environment and hike to that area for a hands-on outdoor experience (forests, streams, soils, etc.) Children should dress appropriately for the weather (rain or shine). RSVP Req'd: events@clarygardens.org - NO COST!

--THE ARTS ROCK! Wednesdays, May 30-July 18, 10-11am. Children will create drums, string and wind instruments from found materials. Using Eric Carle as their inspiration, children will add color and patterns to their instruments. Children will then learn to play the instruments and set Coshocton Rock'N on 3 special Family Music Nights in the artPARK. RSVP: pomerenearts@gmail.com or 740-622-0326 - COST: $5/week

--MUSEUMS ROCK! Fridays, May 31-June 28, 10-11am. Exploring natural science with the eyes of an artist. Both scientific investigation and art training require an understanding of the basic elements of design such as shape, color, texture and pattern. Each week children will learn about a part of the natural world (trees, water, butterflies, etc.) and use that object as an inspiration for an art piece. #3 *The Great GARLIC MUSTARD Pull*

Garlic Mustard has taken over our woodlands! We need YOUR help to pull out this invasive species. Let's take back our Gardens! **You'll get to go home with as much garlic mustard you can eat!! We'll even throw in some recipes too! Bring your family and friends, and spend the morning with nature. We promise it will be a great time!

We need volunteers to help with this event. Please bring friends to help remove this aggressive weed that is threatening our native woodland plants.

This event is hosted by Clary Gardens and Leadership Coshocton County. Come hike with us!

#4 Universe of Plants: "Seeds" the Day!

This summer we are teaming up with the Coshocton Public Library System, Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, Historic Roscoe Village and Pomerene Center for the Arts to create an exciting summer full of programming! Come seize the day with us by planting seeds on May 28th! Your child will learn about how plants grow and why plants are so important to the Earth. Then they will get to plant seeds to watch their own plants grow.

This program is for children ages 3-12. There will be two groups (one for ages 3-6 and one for ages 7-12). The program is $2 per child per week. Please RSVP at events@clarygardens.org as space is limited!

**On Tuesdays, from May 28-July 16, come to Clary Gardens and learn about the relationship living things have with their physical surroundings. Each week will feature a hands-on outdoor experience, so dress appropriately! We will be outside rain or shine!

#5 Private Event Rental

There is an all day event rental in the Red House and adjoining tented venue. During this time, the Red House and adjoining tented venue will be closed to the public. Be aware that parking may be limited during this time as well. 


#6 Private Event Rental

There is an event rental in the Red House and the Amphitheater from 4:00P.M.-6:00P.M. During this time, the Red House and the Ampitheather will be closed to the public. Be aware that parking may be limited during this time as well. 


#7 Plant & Sip

Location: Clary Gardens

Time: 06:00 pm to 07:30 pm

Jump into summer with this fun make-n-take workshop! You will get to decorate a ceramic pot and plant a beautiful zinnia. Sip some wine and let your creative juices flow!

 

Tickets are $20 and include a glass of wine, a snack, and all materials. Tickets are limited, and sales begin in April. 


#8 Private Event - Gardens Closed after 2pm

Due to a private rental, Clary Gardens and all parking will be closed to the public today after 2pm. We close the gardens to visitors when the renting party will need all houses and parking for paid events. 

**Paid garden members (or donors) may have access to the trails and some areas of the gardens, even when closed to the public, with permission of the garden director. Email director@clarygardens.org or call (740)622-6524 for more information.

#9 Volunteer Opportunity: Garden Clean-Up

Join us for this drop-in volunteer opportunity focused on cleaning up a couple of our garden beds in preparation for summer. We hope to share our experiences, some of the property's history, and explain our clean up practices (for those interested). Whether you can come and help for 15 minutes or the whole three hours, we're excited to share our knowledge of gardening and hopefully meet some new people who enjoy playing in the dirt and outdoors as much as we do!

Our volunteer group will meet near the tan garden office and garage at 2pm (Very top of the drive to the left). *Please bring your own garden gloves and pruners, if possible. (We will have a couple extra pairs available.) Please wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes/boots.

We are working on having some individualized snacks and refreshments available.

We'll share more info on this event as the date gets closer. Cancelations will be posted on our website, this event page and 99.3 WTNS Coshocton radio station - Inclement weather could cause the event to be postponed or rescheduled.

*Following mandates, please wear a mask and observe a 6-foot distance while within proximately to others.

#13 Summer Children's Programming

Location: Clary Gardens

Starting Tuesday, May 30th, Clary Gardens will hold an 8-week children's program, ages 5-12, focused on getting children exposure to the outdoors. Each hour long Tuesday morning consists of a brief hike to an area of the gardens and a group activity with craft. Parents may register children for the program on/after May 1st by emailing: plantingseeds@clarygardens.org. Cost to participate is planned to be $1/day.

#15 Split & Share Plant Swap

This was such a fun event last year, we just had to do it again! We invite you to bring your over grown house plants, extra seed starts, and multiplying perennials to share with fellow gardeners. Indoor and outdoor plants are welcome to bring and share!
