Dear Friend of Clary Gardens,

WOW:What another fantastic year! This time last year we were talking about the brand new mulched children’s garden – Now we have a FULLchildren’s wall mural that we can’t wait for you to see! We’re right in the middle of another fabulous fall season of events. So much exciting news, so little space…  

2019 IS GOING TO BE A BIG YEAR: 

• More plantings (an epic+3500 tulips!) and functional community greenspace
• Adult-themed parties, ART/Theater collaborations, and *NEW* special event area!
• Cataloging of our city’s very own Woodland Arboretum ( …how cool is this?!?)
• FUN family festivals and the opening of Clary’s “Winter Garden Wonderland” 
• And of course, all the things you already love about the garden is GROWING!

JOIN THE EXCITMENT:I’m filled with gratitude from our community’s support. A portion of the campaign goal this year will be put directly into children’s nature programming! Help us increase our membership participation in 2019 – Send in your tax-deductible donation. We’re going to make one HECK of an impact this year!!

Hello from Clary Gardens! How is it NOVEMBER already?!?

We’ve just finished another amazing lineup of seasonal events – Our 2019 Garden Scarecrow Trail and Contest exploded into Coshocton’s very own “SCARECROW TOWN”! We’ve been able to triple our community reach and engagement due to enhanced events like this. As always, we pride ourselves in providing affordable, fun and educational programs to Coshocton.

Our last annual campaign enabled us to increase our educational offerings to more, of all ages! Join our team and let’s make a difference. (We hope to hear from you soon!) 

November is the month of giving thanks. At Clary Gardens, we spend the month reflecting back on the year and we'll begin planning and preparations for 2020. Join our social media campaign and share things you've enjoyed at the gardens this year or ideas for next year. We'd love to hear from you!

History of Take A Hike Day

Take a Hike Day was established by the American Hiking society to encourage groups of families and friends to get out into the wild and really get a taste of what it means to be away from it all again. Hiking is something that really helps to rebuild our connection with nature, and helps to maintain healthy hearts and bodies as well.

*Come to Clary Gardens and enjoy a hike through our 1/2 mile woodland loop trail - You can thank us later!

The Full Beaver Moon reaches peak fullness in the morning of Tuesday, November 12, at 8:34 A.M. EST. Look for it the night before or just after sunset on the 12th.

There is a saying that goes with the Full Beaver Moon... "Clear moom, frost soon"

NOVEMBER’S FULL BEAVER MOON

November’s full Moon was called the Beaver Moon by a number of Native American groups and by colonial Americans. The Native Americans used the monthly Moons and nature’s signs as a sort of natural calendar to track the seasons.

Why this name? This is the month when the beavers begin to take shelter in their lodges, having laid up sufficient stores of food for the long winter ahead. During the time of the fur trade, it was also the season to trap beavers for their thick, winter-ready pelts. 

The November full Moon was also called the Full Frost Moon by other Native American peoples.
