#2 Kids Crow Program

Location: Clary Gardens
Date: 09/23/2019, 09/24/2019, 09/25/2019, 09/26/2019
Time: 05:00 pm to 06:30 pm

Clary Gardens is excited to announce a kids crow program! September 23-26 from 5:00P.M.-6:30P.M. children between the ages of 7 and 12 are invited to Clary Gardens to learn all about corvid birds, especially crows and their environmental impact. Each day, Jodi Shrimplin will teach the kids a different topic pertaining to this family of birds, leading up to the construction of a scarecrow to be placed in the Children’s Garden during the Scarecrow Town event.  The topics for the program are as follows: scientific corvid studies, corvid folklore and myth, the impact of nuisance birds on crops (with special guest Ben Young), and scarecrow building. The goal of this program is to give children the “why” in reference to scarecrows and then they will use their new found knowledge to build their very own scarecrow! The cost of the program is $25 per child, which includes the cost of scarecrow materials. Space is limited, so please email us at events@clarygardens.org to reserve a spot! This will be super fun and educational after school program, and we hope to see you there!

#3 Scarecrow Town

Location: Clary Gardens & Coshocton
Date: 09/30/2019

Each October since 2015, the Clary Gardens Foundation has hosted the Scarecrow Trail fundraiser. Businesses and organizations register with the Gardens, build a scarecrow to place in the Gardens, and then enter into a contest where people get to vote for their favorites. This year, we are excited to announce that, with the help of the Coshocton Visitors Bureau, we are expanding the trail into a city-wide Scarecrow Town! From September 30-October 31, businesses, organizations, and even residents will have their scarecrows up for everyone to see. We will still have a scarecrow walking trail, but people can see so many more scarecrows in the city of Coshocton too! Visit scarecrowtown.com for more a map of where to find all of these amazing scarecrows! All scarecrows will be entered into a contest where they can win in the following categories: Traditional, Creepy, Pop Culture, and the coveted People’s Choice. Be sure to vote for all of your favorites! For more information about Scarecrow Town or for details on how to register please contact us at info@clarygardens.org.

#4 Perennial Teaching Workshop

Location: Clary Gardens
Date: 09/10/2019
Time: 05:30 pm to 07:30 pm

Join the Coshocton County Master Gardener Volunteers for a hands-on learning event where we'll be doing some FALL planting and SPRING planning in our PERENNIAL TEACHING GARDEN BED at Clary Gardens! All are welcome to participate on Tuesday, September 10, from 5:30-7:30pm.

Should we be planting perennials this fall? How many? How close together?
How do you give them the best chance? Perennials? Annuals? Why?
Do you have perennials that you have questions about?

Bring garden gloves and your favorite gardening trowel if you'd like (but not necessary). Last year the MGVs and Clary Gardens collaborated on two 3' x 60' perennial beds that we will be teaching from this evening. Come if you can and bring a friend - there is NO CHARGE to attend this event. We will meet in the upper most parking lot (top left) at Clary Gardens, but guests may park in any of the lots.

No RSVP is required, but questions may be addressed by contacting Clary Gardens at: events@clarygardens.org or (740) 622-6524 or the Coshocton County OSU-Extension Office at (740) 622-2265.
