Lunch and Learn Garden Workshops

The Ohio State University Extension Master Garden Volunteers are offering Lunch and Learn garden workshops this summer at Clary Gardens. The first opportunity will be June 19 as Master Gardener Volunteers Marsha Duling, Reta Grewell and Betty Williams teach about Herb Gardening. All sessions will be on Tuesdays from 12:15-12:45 PM in the Tan House at Clary Gardens, 588 West Chestnut Street, Coshocton. Other sessions will be every two weeks on July 3, 17, 31 and August 14.

Topics will cover a variety of yard and gardening themes. Please bring your lunch along and learn something new with the Master Gardener Volunteers over your lunch hour. Find a program flyer here or contact the Coshocton Extension Office at 740-622-2265 woth questions.

#2 Create a Perennial Bed: PART 1

Have you ever considered planting a perennial garden, but just aren’t sure how or when to start? Then the Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteers have a series of programs just for you! Join the Master Gardeners to learn how to Create a Perennial Bed during a three part series starting this month. These programs are free and open to the public. The Master Gardener Volunteers are creating a Perennial Teaching Garden at Clary Gardens. They want you to be involved from the very beginning of the process to learn how proper planning results in a more successful and beautiful garden.

The first workshop will be Thursday, August 23 at 6:00 pm The “Starting From Scratch” workshop will cover site selection, soil testing, and preparing the bed.

The second workshop will be Monday, September 10 at 6:00 pm and will be “Planting Cover Crops to Reduce Soil Compaction”. The Master Gardeners will teach about cover crop options to improve the soil over winter months.

The final workshop will be offered in the spring and will be “Spring Steps for Planting”. This date and time will be announced later. This program will cover spacing tips, season-long color, and weed prevention.

#3 Volunteer Program

You have been asking about volunteering opportunities, and we have been listening! We are excited to offer a bi-weekly volunteer program starting on July 1st at 10:00A.M. This is an awesome opportunity for people who want both social networking and hands-on garden experiences. Each morning will begin with light refreshments and conversation then volunteers will head outside to work in the Gardens. The program will happen rain or shine! On the beautiful, sunny days, everyone will be outside learning about different gardening techniques and putting their new knowledge to use. On rainy days, volunteers will work in the garden houses. All necessary materials, such as gloves and trowels, will be provided by the Gardens. #5 YIKEs! ~ Yoga-Inspired Hikes

YIKEs this is FUN! Join us this summer at Clary Gardens with Chris Campbell, RYT200, Creator of YIKEs~Yoga Inspired Hikes (a delicious and doable blend of yoga and hiking) on June 18, July 30, August 27, 2023.

Power-down and connect with nature while mindfully using all your senses: smelling the flowers and the forest, seeing the textures and colors, feeling the breeze, listening to the birds, tasting the air while stopping to practice yoga postures (asana) and learning breath practices (pranayama) during your picturesque hike.  

Lower your stress, calm, and center. Clear your mind. Increase creativity and cognitive function. 

Ideal for those ages 13 and older.  All classes are 90 minutes, mild to moderately paced and on varying levels of terrain.

Clary Garden Members: $15/Non-Members: $20
